FCS & FCSII Adapter
FCS and FCSII Adapters
When it comes to surfboard fins, the choice between FCS and FCSII adapters can significantly impact your riding experience. Although they serve a similar purpose, these two adapters have distinct features that cater to different fin systems.
FCS Adapter
The FCS adapter is designed for use with dual-tab fin bases of the same size. It features two identical tabs that fit seamlessly into the fin box slots.
FCS Installation Instructions
To install the FCS adapter, position it above the designated connector on your board. Ensure that the pins on the adapter align perfectly with the corresponding holes on the board. With a steady hand, press the FCS adapter straight down into the connector, making sure it is evenly seated for optimal performance.
FCSII Adapter
In contrast, the FCSII adapter is tailored for fin boxes that accommodate two slots: one of which is slightly longer than the other. This adapter features two differently sized tabs and includes a notch designed to slide into the fin box effortlessly.
FCSII Installation Instructions
To install the FCSII adapter, begin by inserting the front of the adapter (the longer tab) into the plug first. This allows the ridge inside the plug to engage with the recess in the forward tab. Once securely engaged, apply downward pressure until you hear a click, indicating that the fin is locked in place.
Tip: Using a safety leash is strongly recommended to ensure optimal performance and longevity for this type of connection. For a step-by-step tutorial on how to attach the leash to your fin and board, click here.
